“Pink, gold and glittering”

27 May

What a nice relaxing holiday weekend this was. It was my first weekend off after my first week at work. I’ve never had a job that was Monday through Fridays, so it was nice to experience my first work weekend and the relief that comes with that. I did bring a few papers home on Friday to enter into our database ::eyes widen in horror::

The shore was so nice, a bit windy for my taste but still nice. The sun came out and I sat on the beach, knitting of course, in my long sleeves, sweater and jeans. The feeling of rubbing your feet though the top most layer of the warm, gritty sand is irreplaceable. I don’t really care if my sweater gets a little sandy, it’s mine anyway. I think I am going to finish the next two rows of the raglan increases and put it on scrap yarn and try it on again. Finger crossed that I don’t have to do any ore increases. I feel like it takes me so long to do a two row set because I’m counting my stitches after each increase row to make sure I don’t have to go back rows and rows of 300+ stitches if thee is a mistake ::cough cough::

No pics, but I will take some soon of the progress of the sweater :). Heather

Jenny, Jenny who can I turn to?  (sorry readers, the song as been stuck in my head for days lol)

Knitting on the train has allowed me to do knit two rows per day.  I have to catch two trains everyday and I really can only knit on one of them (the other one, is really greasy and may be standing room only sometimes).  I am almost at 100 stitches more than the pattern called for at the sleeves to make room for underarms…and I want this to be a “boyfriend” style, so loose and baggy.  I’m afraid to put it all on scrap yarn, only for it not to fit yet and have to put all 300-and-something stitches back on the needles.  Well, I have two hours before I have to walk to my first train, maybe I will do it…maybe.  🙂

Work has been great.  Today, Thursday, is my fourth day.  I work for a hospital, Cooper University Hospital and I am part of the employee activity/employee concierge service office.  There are three of us total in the office, including my manager.  It is such a variety everyday, seeing so many doctors, nurses and other staff that wants to order lunch or cakes and send packages across the world…we do it ALL.  It’s kind of like when you call down to the concierge at the hotels, they know everything and where to go to eat and how to get to places.  It’s the same except we order whatever they want and get it delivered or send out their dry cleaning to our dry cleaning vendor….yadda yaddda yadda.  There is a lot of computer work entry, so it’s nice to have my own desk too.

It has also been nice to have most of my morning to get ready for work.  I don’t walk to the train until 11:30, so I have time to press my outfit for the day and do my hair in nice updo styles and still not rush.  Rushing is when my entire day then gets chaotic.  It is like a ripple effect.

until next time, Heather

Train, rain and scubbies

Spent the last two or three days avoiding knitting again. My mothers Mother’s Day sweater tank is wayyy too big. Like 8 inches too big. (insert choice curse words here). U have to frog the whole 13″ and start over. I decided however that I didn’t like way it looks to attach the sideways cable band and the stockinette stitch. I think it looks “homemade” in a bad way. I want my sweater to look as if she got it from a store.

So here I am, on the train to atlantic city to work for Guess and I brought along a little piece to knit. I am making a scrubber clog for my cast iron pans. The material feels like plastic over it acrylic or something. It reminds me of the edges of the shoelaces where it has that plastic so it doesn’t fray

My mother has given me her old iphone 3GS to use in place of my shattered iphone 4S.  Ugh.  The process of restoring from my icloud to this phone says it will be approximately one hour.  After letting it be for a bit (because it’s like watching paint dry…I just want to touch the phone and update my apps and all), it now says I lost internet connection and I have to restart the process.  OMG  To be continued….

This morning I jumped on the 7:12am train to Philly and after switching to a subway and getting pretty confused, I finally made it to my specialist appointment with ten minutes to spare.  Perfect.  I LOVE riding the train.  Just the thought of sitting on the train for an hour, not having to talk to anyone and just having alone time sounds sooo great…it is the easiest time for me to knit.  With three minutes until I had to leave, I came to the realization that I did not pack my knitting the night before.   I prepared my clothes last night just in case I ran late getting out of bed this morning…hey, it’s been known to happen before, LOL.   Well, it happened and it was too late to find a new project (I have nothing on the needles, if you can believe it).  My train ride was good, I just did some people watching and jammed out to my Mumford and Sons album (thanks itunes ::gives a thumbs up and a wink::).

Wearing the most awesome sweater jacket EVER.  It was my grandmothers sweater which my mother grabbed when she passed away.  I’m at my moms right now (she picked me up from the train and is watching Johnny while I was at the Drs) and with a slight chill in the air, I reached for the sweater.  I think this is my next project.  Yes, yes it is.  I just decided.  Now off to find a pattern… hm.  I will post a picture of the best sweater ever later or tomorrow when my downgraded iphone is restored.  ha!
