“Have you seen me?”

27 Jan

My day was a good one. I woke up (which is always a nice thing that happens), played in the snow and shoveled the driveway with my 4 year old son, did my hair and dropped off my son at my mother in laws house (ON TIME, which to anyone that knows me knows this is a feat) and went to a baby shower. The shower was nice and while I wish I had more food to eat, which seems to be the case more often than not, my beautiful hand made sweater was a hit. I must say that I am pretty proud of my sweater outcome. I added the ribbed cuffs to each hand and the ribbed band at the bottom of the little jacket which kept the stockinette stitch from rolling up too short. The band on the bottom was the masterpiece, the víola, the chef kissing his fingers just ever so slightly after tasting the finished recipe.

Tonight I finished the night off at my best friend Jens house. The thought of just sleeping over made life simpler but since we only live two minutes away, why not sleep in your own bed if you can. So, packing up and putting on our coats and snow boots at 10:50 makes for an awfully tired little boy. Johns eyes were closing, just standing up LOL (bad mom, points and shakes finger). Anyway, I’m rocking in the rocking chair that Jen actually gave and what caught my eye? The “Have you seen me” little tiny mustard yellow section on the back of the thin paper that wraps of the weekly circulars. Who actually looks at those? I looked at this same corner of paper while eating dinner a few nights ago after noticing the circulars on the kitchen table. I wondered about this little girl who looks like she could be my sister, then I kept eating. Nothing new, nothing exciting and it gets trashed. Somewhere, that little girls family is hoping that people pick up that exact paper and look at the back corner and recognize her from this part of the country. What is her story I wonder? Galilea Magana from Georgia. Missing since December 19, 2011 (that must’ve been a hard Christmas). I think, “Did she have a coat?”, “What happened that day and why are they advertising it in South Jersey?”

I take each day for granted. It is a gift and it should be treated that way. Now, I will go lay in bed being occupied by my son and put in the Universe all the good things I wish for his life.

Goodnight blog readers!
